What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is an ancient healing method that has been used for thousands of years to support healing, self-understanding, and inner peace. The earliest references to hypnotic states can be traced back to the Egyptians, Greeks, and Chinese philosophers, and in recent decades it has become a recognised therapeutic approach in the Western world.

Being in hypnosis is essentially being in as deep a state of relaxation as you can be without falling asleep.
We all naturally enter this state every day – just before we fall asleep, when we lose ourselves in a film, or when we are driving and momentarily “switch off” from our surroundings.

In hypnosis, we work with the subconscious mind, which stores memories, emotions, and patterns that shape our behaviour and reactions.

Despite the myths around hypnosis, you always remain in control and fully aware during the session. You hear everything I say, you can reject any suggestions if you wish, and you can always bring yourself out of the hypnotic state.

It is not a supernatural state – but a deep form of relaxation where the mind becomes more receptive to change and healing.

Conscious mind and subconscious mind

The brain operates with different brainwave patterns depending on our state – wakefulness, relaxation, dreaming, and sleep. In hypnosis, you are at the threshold between wakefulness and sleep, where the conscious and subconscious mind meet.

The subconscious – your “little you”, your core, your soul – stores everything you have experienced. It influences much more of your life than the logical, conscious mind. This is why it can be difficult to change habits or behaviour with willpower alone – we need to work with the subconscious itself.

When you are in hypnosis, the subconscious becomes more accessible and allows you to see, understand, and transform what lies underneath the surface of the problem.

What happens in a hypnotherapy session?

Hypnotherapy is suitable for anyone who wants to gain insight into the root of their challenges and work with that root to improve their quality of life – whether it relates to anxiety, phobias, insecurity, emotional distress, eating patterns, or self-worth.

When you come to a session, we start with a conversation about what you want to work on and whether you want to focus only on your current life or, if it is appropriate for your goal, include past life exploration.

After that, the hypnosis itself begins. A full session usually lasts about 1.5–2 hours.

All you need to do is allow yourself to relax, let the analytical and critical mind step aside for the duration of the session, listen to my guidance, and use your imagination. When that happens, the busy mind calms down and the subconscious “wakes up” – and only then can we really explore the origin of the issue and work with it.

Sometimes the root cause is not what you consciously believe it to be. It might be an old experience, a comment, a shock, or a habit that has been imprinted deep in the subconscious and rises to the surface in hypnosis.

When we find the root, we work together to release it using gentle but effective methods.
The entire process takes place in a safe, respectful way where you always remain in control of what happens.

Past life regression

Past life regression is a specific approach that helps you explore deeper layers of the soul’s memory and connections from other lifetimes – through symbolic images arising from the subconscious.

You are deeply relaxed but still conscious and aware, which means you remain safe and in control of your experience at all times.

This method can help you to:

  • understand the roots of certain emotions or recurring patterns

  • gain insight into complex relationships

  • work with phobias or fears that seem unexplained

  • deepen your connection with your own soul and sense of purpose

It is not necessary to believe in past lives. Many people experience this as a symbolic way of understanding themselves more deeply.

Whether the images are literal memories or symbolic does not matter as much as the healing, clarity, and understanding that come from the process.

After the session

After hypnotherapy, many people feel relief, calm, and a deeper sense of self-understanding. Some experience strong emotions and may cry or laugh; others simply feel relaxed and renewed.
